Coast Guard Stayed Busy Over Holiday Weekend

The Coast Guard stayed busy on the Great Lakes over the holiday weekend, saving 8 lives, and helping dozens of other people.

One incident included a cell phone conversation with a 13-year-old girl who led crews to a grounded pontoon boat, near Grand Haven.

15 people were on board; 13 of them were deaf, and four lacked medicine for medical conditions.

The Coast Guard shuttled passengers to shore, three at a time.

No one was hurt.
