7.1 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Mexico, Guatemala; Two Dead
At least two people are dead after a earthquake hit the Pacific Coast.
The magnitude 7.1 quake jolted a wide area of southern Mexico and Central America.
The U.S. Geological Survey says it hit at a little before 6:30 a.m. near the Guatemala border.
According to a Mexico local news media, the quake was felt strongly in the Mexican state of Chiapas and Tabasco, but there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries there.
A firefighter spokesman says two people were killed in San Marcos in Guatemala.
The quake was centered 57 miles below the surface.
