The Wayne County Medical Examiner says a referee’s death is a homicide.
The report shows John Beiniwicz died from blunt force trauma to the neck.
Livonia police say Beiniwicz was punched during a soccer game on Sunday by a man from Dearborn. The ref died Tuesday.
Prosecutors have charged Baseel Abdul-Amir Saad of Dearborn with assault.
The man’s lawyer says his client is innocent.
