National Cherry Festival Air Show Preview
A high flying preview of what to expect at this year’s National Cherry Festival Air Show.
The headliners, of course, are the Blue Angels, and they’re always a big draw.
But crowds will see many other great feats of aviation this weekend over the open space.
9&10’s Michelle Dunaway got to experience one of them first hand with Billy Werth and his daring aerial shenanigans.
“I’m giggling the whole time from the first time I fly, I’ve been doing this since ’92 and I still giggle when I fly upside down and looping the airplane and rolling it.”
It’s safe to say that Billy Werth is loving life. The Indianapolis native is making his third appearance at the National Cherry Festival this year.
“It’s a Christina Eagle 540 so it’s modified from it’s original design, little more horsepower a little more maneuverability, so I’ll be flipping the airplane around in ways folks don’t understand but it’s a lot of fun makes a lot of smoke and noise and it’s fun.”
The air show starts tomorrow at 1:00 in the afternoon and goes until 3:30 at West Grand Traverse Bay.
The show continues Sunday at the same time.
