Bums still can’t figure out Rascals, lose 3-2
TRAVERSE CITY, MI – A night after Traverse City and River City combined for 23 runs and 29 hits, the pitchers took control as the Rascals claimed a 3-2 victory over the Beach Bums on Wednesday night at Wuerfel Park.
Both starters posted pitched shutout ball through the first five innings. River City finally broke through against Alex Phillips in the top of the sixth inning, plating a run on Zach Kometani sacrifice fly to take a 1-0 lead.
Bryan Aanderud found the gap in left-center scoring a pair of runs for the Rascals in the seventh inning, making it 3-0 River City.
Traverse City finally got to rookie Ben Bracewell in the last of the seventh inning, knocking him out of the game after a Sean Gusrang double scored Josh Miller. After a strikeout, pinch-hitter Kevin Taylor lined an RBI single to right off of Chandler Jagodzinki to draw the Beach Bums to within 3-2.
However, TC would not get any closer.
The Beach Bums wrap up their series with River City Thursday night at Wuerfel Park. First pitch is set for 7:05pm.
