More U.S. Troops Headed into Iraq

Three hundred more U.S. troops are heading to Iraq.

As violence there increases, President Obama told Congress he’s planning to increase American presence to help protect the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad and secure Baghdad’s airport.

The U.S. troops may also act as military escorts in case people need to be evacuated from Baghdad.

That’s in addition to Green Berets, who will help train Iraq’s security forces.

That will bring the total number of U.S. troops in Iraq to 800.
