US Coast Guard Rescues Two Kayakers From Lake Michigan

The US Coast Guard rescued two kayakers Sunday evening from Lake Michigan.

Around 6 p.m., a rescue air crew from Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City started searching for the missing kayakers who were thought to be between South Manitou Island and the Sleeping Bear Dunes.

They found one person hanging onto their kayak, while the other was still in his personal water craft signaling for help with his paddle.

The coast guard reminds boaters to wear life jackets at all times, and be prepared for emergency situations by having signaling and working communication devices on board.
