UPDATE: Brown Bridge Dam Failed Due to Erosion

The Department of Environmental Quality released it’s findings on the cause of the Brown Bridge Dam failure Monday.

In October of 2012, the Boardman River flooded when a temporary dewatering structure failed at the Brown Bridge.

Monday the DEQ says the structure failed because of erosion around it.

The dewatering structure was in place to help remove the Brown Bridge Dam on the Boardman River.

This dam was the first of a series of dam removals that are restoring the Boardman to a more natural state.
