Distracted Driving Debate Over Electronic Devices Used by Drivers

Federal regulators want more say over the apps you use in your car.

According to the U.S. government, more than 3,000 people were killed in distraction related crashes in 2012.

And at any given moment during daylight hours, approximately 660,000 drivers are using cell phones or manipulating electronic devices while driving.

Texting and driving has been outlawed in Michigan for nearly four years now.

First offense tickets are $100. A texting and driving ticket after that is $200.
