GT County to Get New K-9 Team
The Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Department will be able to get a new K-9 after losing one last month.
The Art and Mary Schmuckal Family Foundation is granting the money to make it happen.
It will cover the cost of a new K-9 and the five week training course for the handler and dog.
The K-9 will be trained to detect drugs and search for people.
“We received some great support. The Olson Foundation, we appreciate that grant approval and then the Art and Mary Schmuckal Family Foundation more recently. We really appreciate the support. If it wasn’t for that support that valuable tool would not be available to the residents and visitors of Grand Traverse County,” said Captain Chris Clark.
Once the training is complete grand traverse county will have three K-9’s in the department.
