UPDATE: GM Issues Recall of Chevy Cruze for Airbag Defect
General Motors is now officially recalling more than 29,000 Chevy Cruze compact cars because of a potential airbag defect.
Metal parts in the air bag systems can hit the driver and passengers if the bags are inflated.
The cars were built in 2013 and 2014.
The air bags were built by Japanese parts supplier Takata, but the problem is different from another air bag issue that’s causing big recalls across the auto industry.
The Cruze is GM’s top-selling car.
