Mt. Pleasant Couch, Dumpster Fire Ordinance Added to City Code
An emergency ordinance put in place to avoid couch and dumpster fires in Mt. Pleasant is now permanent.
The City Council made it illegal to be within 300 feet of a nuisance situation as a way to stop a rash of fires back in April.
As the school year wrapped up at Central Michigan University, dozens of fires burned throughout the city.
Police and fire departments were not able to do their job efficiently due to the gathering crowds.
Language of the ordinance was tightened up as it was added to the city code.
