Feedback at 5:00: Open Carry on School Property

School is out for summer, but administrators at Northern Michigan’s largest school district are looking at safety procedures for the coming year.

Traverse City Area Public Schools says if someone legally carries a firearm onto school grounds, they’ll go into lockdown.

State law allows a person with a concealed pistol license to carry a firearm openly on school grounds.

Even so, TCAPS say they will lockdown if someone legally has a gun in a school.

Traverse City Police will send an officer to the school, and will stay there until the person leaves.

How do you feel about the open carry policy on school grounds?
