Mason County Honors Fallen Vets with New Plaque
A large group of fallen Northern Michigan veterans were honored today with a new memorial plaque.
Mason County community members came together to replace an old memorial that was lost when their library was remodeled.
Veterans from the area took part in a ceremony today to honor the 196 men and women who fell in wars past.
Roger Tominksi, who originally researched the names of the fallen, also took part in the dedication.
“It never dawned on me that heroism that some of these men did,” Tominski said. “On there, there is heroes, whether they died in a training accident, aboard a submarine or in the air over Germany.”
The new plaque can be found in the Mason County District Library’s main entrance.
