TC “Turns it Purple” for Alzheimer’s Awareness Month

It’s Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month and Traverse City businesses are raising money and awareness for the disease.

Comfort Keepers is behind this years campaign called “Turn it Purple”.

Purple pins will be handed out tomorrow across Northern Michigan to show support for a cure for the disease.

And for every Facebook photo share on Comfort Keepers’ Facebook page, the organization will donate one dollar to the greater Michigan chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.

“We’re tying to get 1,000 photos on our Facebook page of people wearing this END ALZ pin and for each one of those that’s posted we’re gonna donate a dollar and when we get to 1,000 we’ll donate an extra thousand dollars. We’ve got two purposes to build awareness for the disease and to raise money for a cure,” said Leslie Knopp, Co-Owner of Comfort Keepers.

Pins will be available at Oryana Saturday, 10:00 am until 12:00 pm, and are now available at several Traverse City locations during regular hours including Golden Shoes, Brew, MyNorth Media, Big Boy, Fox Grand Traverse, NMC University Center and the local Comfort Keepers office at 1107 E. Eighth Street.
