IRS Investigation Tied to Missing Emails

Representative Dave Camp from Michigan’s fourth district was one of the key congressmen grilling the head of the IRS today following an investigation tied to missing emails.

Republicans say the IRS is trying to cover something up.

Congress and the FBI are working together to investigate if the agency scrutinized Tea Party groups trying to apply for tax exempt status.

This week, we learned many emails at the center of the probe were lost when a computer drive crashed in June of 2011.

Representative Dave Camp (R) said, “The years between 2009 and 2011 are the very peak of when the IRS organized and implemented its targeting scheme. How convenient for the IRS and the administration.”

Democrats say it’s a conspiracy theory.

Republicans want a special prosecutor to investigate.
