UPDATE: TC State Park Water Quality Sample Shows Normal Levels of E.coli

Following another test for bacteria in Grand Traverse County, Traverse City State Park’s water advisory has been lifted.

The Grand Traverse County Health Department says the water quality index came back at a Level 2 after Wednesday samples were processed. That means the E. coli levels in the water meet Michigan Department of Environmental Quality standards for wading, fishing and boating, but people are not advised to go in above their waist.

A follow up sample was tested and the water quality index returned to Level 1. This means E.coli levels in the water meet MDEQ standards for swimming and full body contact.

Beach samples in Grand Traverse County are collected twice a week. E. coli levels may increase more after a storm.
