House Republicans Meet to Choose New Leaders

House Republicans will meet today to fill empty spots after last week’s shocking upset with their number two leader, Virginia congressman Eric Cantor.

California congressman and majority whip Kevin McCarthy is likely to win the majority leader spot.

But second-term Idaho congressman Raul Labrador is challenging him.

Labrador says Cantor’s defeat shows voters believe Congress is out of touch, and their leader should be replaced.

Last week, Cantor was defeated by college professor David Brat in a shocking upset.

Cantor will step down on July 31st as House Majority Leader.

Other possible contenders include Representatives from Louisiana, Illinois, and Indiana.
