CMU’s Taylor Johnson going international
CMU women’s basketball player Taylor Johnson has been invited to play with Team USA at the upcoming William Jones Cup in Taipei City, Taiwan. Jones received the invitation after trying out on Sunday in Indianapolis. It was one of five different tryouts that took place across the country.
“They (USA basketball coaches) told me, ‘You made it, we want you on the team. We want to know if you will play with us.” I said ‘Yes I do,'” Johnson said.
Johnson was also told there is a possibility she could impress European scouts enough that she could get a contract to play professionally. The William Jones Cup will begin in August.
Johnson spent four seasons with the CMU women’s basketball program. She was an integral part of last year’s MAC Championship run and during her senior season Johnson became the 23rd Lady Chippewa to score 1,000 career points.
