The Mighty Mac Saw Less Traffic This Year
The Mackinac Bridge Authority says fewer people trekked across the Mighty Mac this year.
The Bridge Authority’s study goes throughout the year, but they say the tough winter is likely a cause of less traffic.
They say fewer vehicles made the trip back and forth; about 3% fewer than years before.
The Bridge Authority says the winter months also saw fewer cars because bridge conditions were not always ideal.
With summer in full swing, they say things are already picking up.
The bridge also specifically saw a decrease in commuters and commercial vehicles this year.
The study also reveals that more than half of the vehicles crossing the bridge are driving from somewhere within the mitten.
