Islands Wildlife Preservation Benefit Saturday

A group will work to help nature in one of the most beautiful places in northern Michigan.

An organization called “Islands Wildlife” will hold a preservation benefit Saturday to help educational efforts in the Les Cheneaux area.

The event at the Clark Township Community Center usually raises more than $10,000.

The money funds scholarships at Les Cheneaux Community Schools for students who want to continue their education in conservation.

They also supply educational equipment and help to protect the pristine area from invasive species.

“We just have to be good stewards of what we have here. We have 36 islands here, and we need to keep them in one piece,” President of Islands Wildlife Ken Izzard said.

Tickets are $50 per person and $80 for a couple.
