National Disaster Preparedness Training Held in TC

Instructors from the National Disaster Preparedness Training Center were in Traverse City Tuesday giving a talk to community leaders.

Their goal is to help them be aware of the plans they need to have in place in case of a natural disaster.

The program is funded by FEMA and is designed to promote awareness that disasters can happen anywhere.

“Nobody can do it alone. So, we have to have partnerships, collaboration, relationships built. And that’s what we’re trying to teach in this class. To make sure that those plans are current, accurate and that your partners are in this with you,” explained NDPTC Trainer Phil Davis.

The team gave a similar talk Tuesday afternoon to caregivers for the elderly and disabled.

The NDPTC team will be traveling to three other Michigan cities this week.
