UPDATE: Cantor’s Next Moves After GOP Primary Defeat

Following a shocking upset in the Virginia GOP primary, house majority leader Eric Cantor says he will step down from his position this summer.

Cantor lost the Virginia Seventh District Primary to Tea Party candidate Dave Brat.

Before his defeat, Cantor was the front runner to eventually replace house speaker John Boehner.

Representative Pete Sessions from Texas has already said he will be running for majority leader.

Tuesday was a primary election day for several states and we have already seen a huge upset.

House majority leader Eric Cantor lost his re-election bid to an economic professor and Tea-Party challenger.

David Brat beat Cantor in Virginia’s seventh district GOP primary.

Brat is originally from Alma, Michigan.

Cantor is considered the number two republican in the House and was favored in this race.
