Committee Proposed New Plan Preventing Asian Carp From Reaching Great Lakes

A committee to prevent Asian carp from reaching the Great Lakes is stepping up their efforts.

The Asian Carp Regional Coordinating Committee released a new plan Wednesday that outlines monitoring and commercial fishing operations.

Big-head and silver carp have already infested the Illinois River, which leads to Lake Michigan.

There are several other measures in the works, including one to increase water sampling downstream of electric fish barriers, and test seismic pressure waves of water guns that could be used to scare away the carp.
