Blanchard Mill Pond Drained…Again
We have an update on a community upset about their pond that was recently drained…again.
The Blanchard Mill Pond in Isabella County was drained last week by the Department of Environmental Quality because they say the makeshift dam is unsafe.
In October, the dam at the millpond failed and sparked the DEQ’s interest in why it failed and how it was operated.
The DEQ has been working closely with the township to get the pond filled.
The township got the dam inspected last week and is waiting to see what would allow them to continue on.
Many people are concerned that the pond will still be empty for their Blanchard Days at the end of the month.
The DEQ says they will help the township get the dam back in order any way they can.
