Leelanau Birding Festival Showcases Local Birds

Various festivals are held across Northern Michigan in the summer, from cherries, to music, and even birding festivals.

Birding festivals are put together to attract people to come look at local species of birds. This weekends event starts at Otter Creek’s National Park and goes all the way up to North Port.

The goal is to raise awareness about birds and bird conservation. The event brings in people from all over, which also helps the local economy.

This is the fourth year the event has been held.

The program starts Saturday at 7:00 am and is free to the public at the Nature Center on North Putnam Road.
