Ford Recalls 1.1M Vehicles For Steering Issues
Ford is recalling more than a million SUV’s to fix a problem that could create issues with power steering when driving.
The two separate but similar issues are linked to 915,000 Ford Escapes and Mercury Mariners, and 196,000 Ford Explorers all made from 2008 to 2011. Ford says the problems can result in a loss of electric power steering while driving which increases the risk of a crash.
The Escape and Mariner recall involves a torque sensor within the steering column. Ford recommends either replace the sensor, update software or replace the steering column.
