Economic Development Project In Cheboygan County Could Bring up to 300 Jobs

Michigan approved millions of dollars to go towards economic projects in the state. Cheboygan County is one location of the economic development projects, and people in town are excited jobs are on their way.

They are expected to add more than 800 jobs and $350 million in investment throughout the state. The strategic fund will issue bonds to help finance Green Box NA.

Green Box NA is Michigan’s plan to process garbage at a Detroit facility, then transfer it for final processing in Cheboygan.The funding will also go toward projects in Pontiac and Coopersville.

Governor Snyder says the projects’ variety shows the diversity of Michigan’s economy.

Great Lakes Tissue Company in Cheboygan will see an expansion because of its partnership with Green Box. The company’s owner say between 130 and 300 jobs will be added to the Cheboygan Company as a result.

Many are excited to hear about the development, and hope it could fix some of the town’s economic woes.
