Friends Paddling 275 Miles to Help Friend in Need
A group of buddies are testing the waters to help a friend in need.
A man from Holland, Michigan is trying to cope with Multiple Sclerosis. It’s a condition that progressively gets worse. His friends came up with a plan to raise money to make his home more accessible.
Lance Dick was diagnosed with MS in the late 90’s. He’s since become unable to work, and started using a cane. Lance says he will soon have to start using a wheelchair and needs to make improvements to his home to move around, so that’s when his friends stepped up to the rescue.
“They’ve stepped up and decided to paddle 275 miles from Cadillac to Zeeland, Michigan and did it in order to raise money to help me make some modifications around my home,” says Lance. His friends started their journey today and say it’s the least they could do. “We came up with the idea and it’s been a challenge to see what we can do to help Lance and also it’s been a challenge for us to see if we can accomplish it,” says Mark Kamps, one of the kayakers.
Hundreds of people will be donating money for every mile they go, which is motivating them to finish their trip strong. “So, if people help to help us with our cause, they can at least make living conditions better for a great guy,” says Kamps.
Two more friends will be joining the trip along the way. If you would like to track the guys trip or donate to their cause, visit the Paddle for a Cause Facebook page. Or you can donate by sending a check to…
