Police Heavily Enforcing Seat Belts Through the Holiday
Forty counties across Michigan committed to enforcing the Click It or Ticket campaign this week as holiday travel picks up.
In 2009, seat belt use in Michigan hit an all time high of about 98%.
Last year, the number slid down to 93%.
Federal money will pay for local, county and state police to set up enforcement zones like this throughout the state.
The goal is safety.
The traffic enforcement zones will be up throughout the Memorial Day holiday.
A seat belt ticket costs $65.
