Park and Read Program Comes to Northern Michigan

There’s a way to experience the best that libraries offer, and the enjoy the outdoors in a fun new way, and it’s all free.

For the sixth year now Blue Cross Blue Shield, the DNR, and local libraries are partnering for the Park and Read Program.

Hundreds of libraries, including The Traverse Area District Library, are offering free state park day passes.

People can use it at any of the state’s 102 state parks, and participate in Recreation 101 programs.

That allows people to try out a new activity, like paddle boarding or fat tire biking.

The Park and Read passes start after Memorial Day, and anyone who is a library card holder at a participating library is eligible for a pass.
