Mortar Found in Condemned Cadillac Home

Cadillac Police Department responded to a condemned home for reports of a possible explosive device.

Monday morning, demolition crews were working inside the house when the device was found.

Bomb technicians arrived at the residence on Whaley Rd. to examine the device.

They determined it was a British World War I 3-inch mortar.

Bomb technicians could see something side the chamber, so they took it to a gravel pit and shot a charge through it.

The device was filled with sand. It ended up being a practice round.
