Students Host 5-k to Raise Money For Homeless

Junior and Seniors at Traverse City West High School organized a 5-k today for class, but it does a lot more than help their grades. They will be helping the homeless.

Students on the Community Outreach Council organized the Homeward Bound 5-k.

Anyone could come register and either walk or run, and they had gorgeous weather today to do either.

All money raised will go to Pete’s Place, a local homeless shelter, to help fund and raise awareness of teen homelessness.

Organizers only anticipated around 100 people, but about double that came for last minute registration today.

Students say it’s overwhelming being able to make a difference in their community.
