Spring Sports Struggling with Unusual Spring Weather

Rain and cooler temperatures have forced many school districts to cancel spring sporting events.

Now they’re trying to figure out how to rearrange schedules and deal with damaged fields.

Softball, baseball, tennis, and golf are swatting at spring and hoping for better weather to play in.

“Some fields are unplayable and when they are you simply have to cancel and you have no choice in it,” says Rich Giddens, the Cadillac Area Public Schools Athletic Director.

Cadillac Schools have cancelled several games and today was no different. Many fields are just too wet. And it takes a lot of maintenance and money to keep the fields in playing condition. As they fight to paint wet fields, and add more dirt, they need sunshine to help them play ball.

Schools are doing their best to play as many conference games as possible so state playoffs and finals can still happen as planned.
