Police Looking for Tips on Deli Break-In, Theft

Someone smashed out a window and took off with cash and other items from a Northern Michigan deli.

Deputies in Grand Traverse County say someone broke into the Karlin Market & Deli in Grant Township Tuesday night and took off with cash, cigarette lighters and rolling papers.

The pictures show the broken window at the deli.

The owner says he’s looking at about $2,000 in damage.

The biggest disappointment for owner Frank Sorna is that about $100.00 in donated money was stolen – money that was being given to a family who recently lost everything in a fire.

9&10’s Marisa McKay and photojournalist Jeremy Erickson spoke to Sorna to learn more about this crime, and what he’s most thankful for moving forward.
