Feedback at 5:00: Fund Roads with Fees Based on Miles Driven?

It’s no secret many Michigan roads are in bad shape.

Lawmakers are working to set aside additional funding to help fix them.

But according to a University of Michigan report, another route could help.

The study says Michigan could solve its road funding issues by shifting to a system where drivers pay a fee based on the amount of miles they drive.

Several other states are looking at the option as well and distance-based user charges are being used in countries overseas.

Advocates say instead of raising fuel taxes, this would be a better option.

But privacy concerns are a big issue.
