Spofford Takes Plea Deal For Role In Trooper Butterfield Shooting
The mother of the man who murdered Trooper Paul Butterfield has taken a plea deal for her role in the crime.
Tammi Spofford pleaded no contest to accessory after the fact to the murder.
Police say Spofford helped her son Eric Knysz and his wife Sarah after the shooting of Trooper Butterfield.
Spofford’s no contest plea is not an admission of guilt, but will be treated as one.
Sentencing is scheduled for next month.
Eric was found guilty of killing Trooper Butterfield in February, and was sentenced to life in prison. He committed suicide last month.
Sarah is serving two to five years in prison for accessory after the fact.
