Eight Counties Added To Emergency Declaration Due To Deep Freeze

Governor Snyder amended a winter emergency declaration.

The governor declared a “state of emergency” for Marquette County on April 17th.

He’s now added the counties of Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Chippewa, Emmet, Gogebic, Luce, and Mackinac to the list.

The extremely cold temperatures and deep frost levels caused widespread damage to water and sewer mains and many roads.

The governor says despite the arrival spring, many Northern Michigan communities are dealing with the lasting effects of winter.
