Drug Enforcement Teams Cracking Down On Synthetic Drugs

Michigan is one of more than 2 dozen states included in a massive synthetic drug crackdown.

The Drug Enforcement Administration is targeting drug makers, wholesalers and retailers on things like bath salts and spice, making hundreds of arrests nationwide.

The government banned five chemicals used to make synthetic marijuana blends in 2010.

But drug makers modified their formulas to make new blends.

Investigators believe the money spent on these drugs could be used by terrorist groups in the Middle East after tracking millions of dollars to Yemen, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan.
