Feedback at 5:00: New MERS Virus

Over the last two years, at least 400 cases of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, or MERS, have been reported. Of those, 100 people have died from the illness.

Last week, the first case of the mysterious virus has been confirmed in an American living in northwestern Indiana.

Officials say the man was working in Saudi Arabia as a health care worker. He returned to the states last month.

Officials also say MERS isn’t highly contagious, but there is no cure either.

Health agencies say the man was in good condition at a hospital yesterday.

Do you worry about new viruses, or do you think they are blown out of proportion? Why?
