High Winds, Dry Conditions Lead to Brush Fires
With these dry and windy conditions, fire crews were on stand by as brush fires kept popping up across Northern Michigan.
A fire like this one in Harrison started when a burn pit from two days ago reignited.
As soon as a fire started, crews were typically able to knock them down before they could burn too much.
The DNR stopped issuing burn permits today as a precaution.
With rain in the forecast, the fire danger should die down.
The DNR likes to remind people that it can be surprising how fast a steady wind can dry out even green grass.
