Two Government Workers Let Go in Osceola County

Two government workers let go in one Osceola County community, and a 3rd job in jeopardy.

A city of Evart police officer and a Public Works employee were the first to go due to strains on the county’s budget.

The city manager decided the layoffs were necessary about 2 weeks ago. When the 2 employees found out, they voluntarily resigned, hoping more jobs wouldn’t be eliminated.

However, another DPW employee could be laid off in the next couple of weeks.

The police department says they hoped for an alternative solution to correct the budget.

The lost officer could be brought back if possible public safety millage legislation make it to the ballot in November.
