Chaffin Sentenced For Cheboygan Co. Escape

The man who took off from the Cheboygan County Jail last year has been sentenced.

Donald Chaffin walked away from the jail in Cheboygan in November.

Police arrested him a month later in Oklahoma.

Tuesday, Chaffin was sentenced to two to 15 years in prison for the escape.

He was also sentenced to between 2 and 20 years for a break-in after his escape and for violating his probation.

In all, Chaffin could spend a maximum 22 years in prison.

The prosecutor says Chaffin now has 11 felony convictions on his record and is heading to prison for the fifth time.
