Surveillance Video Shows Victim Of Carjacking Got Away From Convicted Killer

This just released surveillance video shows the night police say a woman managed to get away from an escaped inmate.

It’s a story 9&10 News first brought you back on Super Bowl Sunday when Michael Elliot escaped from prison.

The convicted killer was serving time in Ionia for killing four people in Gladwin county in 1993.

He was captured a short time later in La Porte, Indiana.

In gas station surveillance video, the smiling man on the left in the dark jacket and white sweater is Elliot.

The blurred person is the woman Elliot carjacked.

Police say the woman snuck out of the car and got the clerk to write down the gas station’s address.

Then she locked herself in the bathroom and called 9-1-1.

She was rescued minutes later.

Elliot is due in court this week to face charges of kidnapping, carjacking and escaping prison.
