Dennos Museum Exhibit Showcases Tibetan Sand Paintings

An exhibit at the Dennos Museum in Traverse City features arts from abroad, as Tibetan monks work on a sand painting.

Eleven monks are visiting the Dennos, and began painting on Monday.

Millions of grains of sand are painstakingly laid into place on a flat platform over a period of days.

The monks are expected to finish it sometime Saturday afternoon.

It will be followed by a ceremonial dance Saturday night.
