No Recall Issued For Ford F-150, Probe Closed

DETROIT (AP) — Federal regulators will not pursue a recall of Ford F-150 pick up trucks after complaints about EcoBoost engines losing power.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says it closed a probe started in May.

It started after complaints that the trucks could lose power during hard acceleration.

Tests by Ford and the government traced the problem to condensation in an air cooler. Water could be pulled into the engine, causing cylinders to misfire.

The tests showed that trucks with the condition would maintain speed and accelerate.

NHTSA determined that Ford issued a service bulletin to dealers to take care of the problem, so it will not need a recall.
