Mecosta-Osceola ISD Receives Generous Donation for Future Greenhouse
The generosity of an energy company will soon result in a greenhouse for a local school.
The Mecosta-Osceola ISD was given a major donation today at their campus in Big Rapids.
TransCanada presented the $25,000 to the district.
The money will go towards a greenhouse that will be built on their campus.
The greenhouse will be wheelchair accessible, and provide a number of opportunities for hands-on learning.
“For the students, it's going to be amazing and a way for them to use functional learning in a way that they can try new fruits and vegetables, learn about science, learn about life cycles, and things like that,” says Amanda Powers, the principal of the education center.
Students from the Mecosta-Osceola Career Tech Center will be building the green house.
They hope to break ground this summer, and have it finished during the fall.
