Weight-loss Drug Alli Being Recalled For Possible Tampering

A popular over the counter weight loss drug is being recalled because of possible tampering.

GlaxoSmithKline says the recall comes after complaints from customers in seven states including Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, New York, North Carolina and Texas.

Customers found tablets and capsules of different shapes in colors in some bottles, others had missing labels or seals that were not authentic.

GlaxoSmithKline described authentic Alli as a turquoise blue capsule with a dark blue band imprinted with the text “60 Orlistat,” which is the active compound that prevents the absorption of fat.

The company says it's conducting an investigation with the FDA. For details on the counterfeit drug, click here.
