Healthy Living: The Gift Of Sight With New Bionic Eye

It may sound like science fiction, but now for the first time surgeons are implanting a new bionic eye device that's giving some blind patients the gift of sight.

The bionic eye known as the Argus-2 is now being offered in 13-sites around the country and is currently only approved for those with retinitis pigmentosa.

In the future, it could help restore other forms of blindness.

The gift of sight comes with a price tag of about $145,000. But nationally, medicare has approved reimbursement.
