Bradford Nabs Eighth MAC West Player of the Week Honor
MOUNT PLEASANT – Crystal Bradford being named the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week is becoming a Monday tradition for the junior superstar.
The league office announced Monday that Bradford had earned her second-straight honor and eighth of the season, extending her career record to 14. A CMU player has earned the award in 10 of the last 11 weeks.
Bradford continued to build her resume for MAC Player of the Year, averaging 29.5 points, 14.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game in a pair of battle-hardened victories against West Division foes Ball State and Toledo.
The junior matched career highs with 36 points and five three-point field goals in an 85-72 overtime victory over Ball State on Thursday, scoring 25 of her points in the second half and overtime. Despite battling foul trouble for the entirety of Sunday's contest at Toledo, Bradford capped the week by scoring 23 points and pulling down 12 rebounds to post her seventh-straight double-double.
Bradford continued to climb the CMU record book as she now ranks in the top five all time in points, rebounds, steals, blocks and field goals made. She also moved into the top 10 all time in career assists and three-point field goals.
She leads all MAC players in double-doubles (20) and rebounding (12.0), ranks second in steals (2.7), third in scoring (20.4) and blocks (1.3) and is fifth in assists (4.4).
CMU will host its home finale Wednesday evening versus in-state foe Western Michigan. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
